Fukushima, contd

Coming down to Cuba from the Central NM Plateau
Radiation on a large scale keeps spewing from several melted down reactors and damaged spent fuel pools at Japan's Fukushima nuclear compound, although the story has disappeared from US corporate-owned media headlines.

Japan's government, which recently saw a change of leadership over the disaster, has yet to tell the truth about what is happening, according to scientists who are following it, and now Japanese doctors, who are already treating people exposed to radiation and worry about the long-term effects of exposure, most of which don't appear for years or even decades.

The United States government, which supports nuclear radiation without regard to its safety and is run by politicians who crave the donations of private sector benefactors who are getting rich from nuclear radiation, has been participating in whitewashing the danger. Some of their lying is outlined at a web site run by Fairewinds Associates, an energy consulting company run by Arnie Gunderson, a nuclear engineer who has been called as an expert witness by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, or NRC, on several occasions, according to the group's web site.

Gunderson's analysis of figures released by the Fukushima plant's operator show "incredibly high levels of Cesium 137 and Cesium 134 in all thee spent fuel pools of Units 1, 2 and 3" and "clearly contradicts and refutes the July assertion by the NRC the Fukushima spent fuel pools were not damaged."

The NRC, the federal agency that is supposed to keep us safe from nuclear radiation, is at the beck and call of the nuclear radiation industry and has become a sick joke among nuclear activists. Go to this Wikipedia article and read the part under the heading "Criticisms," where it states that even President Obama, who supports the expansion of nuclear radiation, as a candidate for president said the NRC had become a "captive of the industry that it regulates."

Another web site still monitoring the effects of the disaster is Fukushima Update.

More Bad News

Gunderson says that a type of particle not readily detectable by Geiger counters and other equipment that detects nuclear radiation, "hot particles," has been detected in air filtering done by independent monitors and is thought to be circulating in the atmosphere as a result of Fukushima. Based on filtering tests conducted in Seattle, WA, it is thought that Seattle residents breathed in the same amount of hot particles during April as did the residents of Tokyo.
