America The Beautiful

At the end of his review dismantling Zero Dark Thirty, the blockbuster, multiple Oscar-nominated film that credits CIA torture with leading to the apprehension of Osama Bin Laden, Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi contrasts Americans' abhorrence of the Abu Gharib torture pictures in 2004 and their celebration of Zero Dark Thirty now.

Audiences cheer during the film. The torture is excused. The means justify the ends. America has changed, Taibbi points out. Bin Laden, the terrorists, and Dick Cheney, have won.
