Anything But A Democrat

"There is now a sizable list of election results involving Republican candidates who survived seemingly unsurvivable scandals to win higher office."

"The lesson in almost all of these instances seems to be that enormous numbers of voters would rather elect an openly corrupt or mentally deranged Republican than vote for a Democrat."

Rolling Stone magazine's Matt Taibbi makes this point in a new article with the understated title The Democrats Need A New Message.

  1. Good post, I reposted it to my Facebook page without asking for permission. Hope you don't mind

  2. I'd like to share this post too, if you don't mind Frank.

The title that Rolling Stone (or Alternet) hooked onto Taibbi's piece implies that the Democrats' problem is "messaging" -- which we always heard from Republicans back when Shrub was President. The Republicans always seemed to think that their problem wasn't their ideas but how they were communicating those ideas. But the problem WAS their ideas. And now Democrats have that exact same problem. They think that if only they can convince voters that "We're on your side because we champion marriage equality" while at the same time they're taking massive donations from the economic elite and doing their bidding (Cory Booker just accepted a sh*tload of money from the Kushner family and is now poo-pooing the whole "Trump-Russia" investigation fiasco). It's their IDEAS, not their messaging. Democrats don't need a new message, they need to embrace socialist ideals and run with them instead of running away from them.

  3. Good post. Good comments. I've been pushing similar to my liberal Minnesota friends....
